What is ECN?
An ECN (electronic communication network) is a technology-based venue incorporating numerous liquidity providers (LPs), both bank and non-bank, who continuously stream their pricing to the ECN.
The ECN will, in turn, aggregate the pricing.
When viewing the entire depth of the aggregated price feed of an ECN, you will notice that it has many levels of liquidity.
Liquidity Providers prefer to stream smaller ticket size pricing to the ECNs due to the fact that this allows them to provide tighter spreads knowing that they aren’t at risk of getting hit with large tickets on those spreads.
The LPs are also aware that, by pricing competitively, they have a chance of being “Top of Book” (ToB) and can win business from competitors in the space.
The end result is a very tight ToB.
How ECN Works?
You may hear the name “Liquidity Providers”. Liquidity Providers are mainly the source where the retail forex broker gets the spot exchange price of different trading assets. None of any retail forex brokers has access to the direct spot market execution on their own so, they need to tie up with one or multiple liquidity providers in order to participate in the spot exchange market.
ECN is the technology or network where your broker executes your trading orders directly to the liquidity providers (LP). That means, there is no barrier between you and the LP.
When you place an order from your trading terminal, that request goes to the broker’s trading server and is then forwarded to the real market (LP). This transition requires a little time to execute. As a result, in the volatile market, you may see some requote issues while placing your trading order.
On the other hand, if your broker allows the use of ECN Network then all of your trading order goes to the liquidity provider’s end directly. As a result, the execution will be faster and smooth with “0” requotes.
Account Features
Here the word “ECN” is related to the technology that the broker executes your trading order. In the ECN Network, brokers bypass all of your orders directly to the liquidity providers so there will be no delays in the execution time. No matter how the market move (lightning speed), your order will be executed instantly.
At first glance, you may think such facilities are not enough the choose an ECN Trading Account. Well, it is true but if you want to feel the heat of a real spot exchange then ECN is the only way.
As the broker does not hold to stand between you and the liquidity provider so, you will get the raw spread which is relatively lower (close to 0 in most cases) which makes your trading profitable with a faster speed.
Professionals and Scapers have mainly used this type of trading account cause they like a speedy trading environment with lightening fast executions.

Recommendation: As we have said earlier, this trading account is specially designed for professionals. The broker requires $1000 to start but we always recommend depositing a larger amount to start trading, at least $8000-$10,000.
So if you can afford to deposit this amount then you can start trading otherwise our suggestion is to choose the Standard Trading Account. On the other hand, if you can effort to deposit our recommended amount then you will get the fastest and most transparent trading experience because an ECN trading account is the most popular and widely used by Scalpers and Advance level traders.
